Canoeing tour on Mosoni Duna!

Mosoni Duna is a protected side branch of the Danube. It is 20-60 meters wide, winding mainly on the upper part. It is one of the most excellent locations for canoeing tours in Hungary. The landscape is diverse; we pass by beautiful forests and great fields, beaches with atmosphere. We spend two nights on an island!

The daily distance is not exhausting at all, so we will have enough time and energy for the afternoon games: war of numbers, water fights and splashing, plus some other surprises. Sunbathing during the day, then making fire, drinking some wine and talking in the evenings. The Killer Game goes on!

Water level is controlled so the river is free from floods; the riverbank is pebbly and the campsites are nice grassy fields. There are many exciting islands and grassy riversides, which are the scenes of lunch and fun during the day.

The fauna is unique: beavers, lutras, herons, egrets and thousands of ducks nest by the water.

There is a speciality of this tour: we will make a short detour from the Danube and visit the town of Mosonmagyaróvár; go sightseeing by canoe. This is a historically important place in Hungary with a nice castle and and interesting downtown. We'll park the canoes 100m from the centre!

We take delicious food; enjoy the beautiful scenery, easy life and the good, funny company we are in. It is a great way to relax for every one of us.

We want to exceed the overwhelming success of last year's tour (which can be owed to the incredibly cool participants) so we chose the colourful Mosoni-Duna again as the site of the adventure!

Prices:

33 000 HUF or 126 EUR above 40 participants
35 000 HUF or 134 EUR 31-40 participants
37 000 HUF or 141 EUR 21-30 participants

It includes:

• 3 nights at camping sites (the other 3 are also decent)
• canoes, supplementary equipment (incl. life-vest)
• food 3 times a day
• escort car and trailer
• T-shirt
• costs of organizing and guidance

Deposit: 38 Euro or 10.000 HUF.

Travelling to the start happens individually or with the group. If you want to arrive at the starting point of the tour by yourself, please meet us in the bus stop in Bezenye, early in the afternoon. Don't hesitate to join us in Budapest as most of us will travel to Bezenye by train anyway - this is the most convenient way. Please let us know about it on the application form so that we can purchase your tickets in advance if you wish. We are leaving at around 9 AM from one of the main railway stations of Budapest.

The price does not include the train tickets, which is an expected 6000 HUF (22 Euro), 3500 HUF/14 Euro with EU student card.

In case you are vegan or vegetarian state it in the online application form. We can reduce the price with 7000 HUF/ 26 Euro and then it won’t include food, but we don’t recommend this option. We can supply you with meat-free food.

Last year there were participants from 28 countries!

We have planned this tour to be really relaxing and fun for you. The focus is not on the physical performance but on spending time together with old CouchSurfer friends and getting new ones, getting to know each other and simply enjoying what the river can offer to us.

No preliminary training is needed for participation.
